I’ve stopped exporting logos as SVG from Figma when going into Illustrator — PDF at 1x opens with cleaner layers and far fewer random clipping masks (). If I truly need SVG, I leave Outline text off in Figma, then save from Illustrator with 3‑decimal precision and set the doc profile before CMYK so curves stay smooth and colors behave. > and how to handle them with professionalism. Quick tweak that saves me cleanup in Illustrator: in Figma I ‘Outline stroke’ and Flatten booleans before exporting a PDF, so the logo opens as a single, sane compound path instead of nested masks. Agree with @Guide on cleaner imports — just note you lose live strokes/variable widths, so keep an editable master and only flatten right before handoff.

Place the Figma PDF instead of opening it, @Lena — File > Place, Embed, then ‘Release to Layers (Sequence)’ if you plan to animate; you’ll get cleaner hierarchies and fewer masks between Figma and Illustrator. Small caveat: verify the doc color mode in Illustrator (RGB, not CMYK) or your brand red will shift off.

One thing that cut my cleanup in Illustrator: build the logo as a Group in Figma, not a Frame — Frames tend to export as clipping masks — then export as PDF. If you need a fixed canvas, keep the Frame but toggle off “Clip content” before export, @Lena; it’s saved me more time than a dozen Pathfinder Unite clicks.

I always sanity-check pixel math before export: set X/Y/W/H to whole numbers and round stroke weights in Figma, or those 0.5px bits turn into weird hairlines in Illustrator — . It’s saved me when opening PDFs/SVGs for remote handoffs, though at micro sizes I’ll keep fractional strokes until the final pass, @scarlett90.
